I HAVE A CONFESSION

Last night I googled. More than once.

Yep, I broke my own promise not to let myself get dragged into the whole symptom googling but I couldn't help it! I had a bleeding nose. Well, rather I was just sitting at the computer last night and suddenly blood started dripping out of it. And for no reason! Sure, my nose has been blocked, but not enough to need to blow it and agitate anything so I posted on FB and joked I was going to google 'bleeding nose pregnancy symptom'. Except then I found out it actually, genuinly CAN be an early pregnancy symptom! I held out for about 10 minutes and then madly googled 'bleeding nose, cramping pregnancy symptoms?'. I read for about 5 minutes before guiltily clicking off and kicking myself for giving in. The only thing I gained from that little exercise was to make myself more nervous than I was before! Yesterday I would have said I was 90% sure AF was on her way. Today . . . I have no idea again. It doesn't help that the nurse called me yesterday just as a courtesy call to see how I was feeling and when I told her I had had cramping, she said it means nothing. Aaaaggghhh! I just want a baby. I want to finally cross that finish line with everyone else who crossed it 2 years ago. Who are crossing it now for a 2nd (and even 3rd!) time since I started TTC. Please?! My current favourite fantasy is imagining myself being able to type those three letters: BFP. And have them typed about myself. Not, 'Congratulations on your BFP' to someone else, but 'I got my BFP'.

So, so far (just to drive you all crazy!) my symptoms are:

* AF type cramping
* Heaviness feeling in abdomen
* Blocked nose (not runny, just stuffy)
* Random bleeding nose for no reason
* Dehydrated and thirsty all the time
* Bloated

BUT, I also have no tiredness or sore boobs or weird veins or nausea which seem to be the main theme in early pregnancy symptoms. I don't know what to think!

  1. Hiya

    I am down to my 1WW today after 9 years TTC. Someone recommended that I have a read of your Blog. You are a fantastic writer.. you should do it for a living!

    Isn't it funny that you notice every little thing.. I too googled 2WW symptoms last night and I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but my nose also bled last night, when I ate my dinner, I noticed my gums were bleeding a little, I've got an earache this morning but have also been suffering from Rotavirus the last 4 days where I have lost 6 kgs with really intense diarrhea (sorry for the TMI) and all I can eat is toast and vegemite and drink lots of water.. I just hope that my wee embie is ok down there.. I've been in touch with my nurses in Christchurch at Repromed and they are aware and told me to keep up the Panadol. Oh and I am getting pretty emotional too.. watching the funniest of vids but bursting into tears of almost emotion overload.. My BT is Thursday with the results on Friday.

    Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful blog and I have everything crossed for you.

    Rach x

  2. Good old Dr Google, we all do it and if it keeps you going and gives you some hope it can't be that bad, just make sure you stay away from those POAS's!! We are away for the long weekend, but will be thinking of you on Monday and hope that all your dreams come true and yes you totally deserve to be crossing the finish line too xx

  3. Hahaha, I love that you googled!!!

    As for the 'typical' pregnancy symptoms, I had NONE. No sore boobs, no tiredness, so sicky feeling and I thought surely I was out of the running. I EXPECTED atleast one of these things.

    So the fact that you don't have any 'typical' signs could be a good thing!!! :)

  4. Good luck! I google everything too. I think that anything might come up as a symptom since there are a lot of women out there that want to be pregnant and have all kinds of things going on with them. I have heard of the nose bleed one though. Only a few more days :)

  5. Thanks guys! I love that heaps of people had no typical signs too! Hope, hope, hope!

    Rach: Good luck too! I also forgot to add I burst into tears at work the other day after my boss was a jerk to me. Normally it wouldn't bother me at all and I'd just shrug and think he was a dick but this time I couldn't hack it. Talk about sensitive! He did apologise though. Haha. Hope you get a BFP as well! Where did the referral come from out of curiosity?

  6. Hey Haidee - I do believe sore boobs and veins etc are common early pg symptoms but for me, they didn't show til AFTER af was due... the earliest symptoms I had were very mild and like you describe, bloody nose, stuffy nose, bloated/gassy and a sore lower back. I didn't really get cramping but then I never really did with AF either so that's just me.
    I really think things are looking promising, I will be absolutely shocked if you come back with a BFN this month. Keeping it all crossed for you.

  7. Well I might be crazy in saying this but how about doing a HPT? If you can hold out you've got tons more patient then me. I start testing 9 days after transfer then I test every morning. I just can't take the suspense. I board the crazy train the day after transfer.

  9. Ooohhh! I really hope this is it for you! Don't get too mad at yourself for googling symptoms! It kind of has it's place throughout pregnancy too...and having kids. It's just a part of life! ;-) Good luck & Happy ICLW! (#72 & 106)

  10. I get where you're at. The thing with symptoms is they really can mean everything or nothing. I would get the dark veins every month pre-AF, and nausea wasn't really an issue until a couple of weeks after my positive.

    Praying and hoping from the far side of the planet!

  11. I love Dr. Google. I find myself going there myself any time a family member telss me any type of symptoms they have. It is very addictive.

  12. I'm not allowed to do a HPT. Husbands orders because last time I promptly gave up after doing one and even though it was right he wants to hold onto the hope as long as possible.

  13. Yep Haidee, nose bleeds defintely can be a pg sign. Bleeding gums can be too. I think your symptoms sound so positive so I really hope this is it for you. Don't worry about your lack of other symptoms as a lot of those that you mentioned won't show up until well after the 4 wk mark. I've had 3 pg's (none of which resulted in a baby though) and I didn't really have any symptoms and I got to 8 1/2 wks with one of those.
    Good luck over the weekend, it will be a long few days I'm guessing. Wishing you lots of strength xx Tania

  14. I had all those symptoms too and thought i was out (READ previous post comment - i scabbed a cigarette) It wasn't till i was well into the 2nd trimester that i started to get the sore boobs & tiredness. And the tit veins kicked in the 3rd trimester. Fingers crossed for you hon!

  15. WHY WON'T YOU JUST POAS. THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!! Are you officially testing tomorrow?

  16. Hi hadiee

    They were the exact symptoms i had when i was PG with my DS so you may be ....

    And in regards to your previous post ... I did not registered that I was have a baby until I had him ... As my sister said I was in denial ... lol

    My fingers are crossed ...If i had a bub after 17 years of marraige and 10 TTC so can you ...

  17. I completely understand why you're not testing. Stick to it! :) Monday is not far away at all x

  18. Hey, like some others have said, I didn't get any sort of symptoms until about 7-8 weeks and even now they aren't as strong or as much as I'd like. Infertility and miscarriage really takes the innocence out of pregnancy because we do know what the alternative is like. I guess there is nothing to do though except try and stay positive. take care and can't wait to hear you say "I got my BFP!"

  19. Hey again. Referral came from Wendy in Blenheim.. I used to work with her a few years back :)

  20. I'm so hoping for a BFP for you! I'm on stims (gonal F) at the mo, another BT today and not much really happening still after a week :(, feeling a little down about it today, so it's great to pop on here and follow your journey and I can't wait till Monday to hear your news! Good Luck!

  21. haidee, I don't know how I'm going to wait til Monday to find out!!?? Don't feel bad about Googling, that's what it's there for :) Also, don't worry about the typical symptoms, I don't think they show up until well after the 4 week mark (that's just my opinion and is not based on any facts at all!) I didn't get any of them (apart from sore boobs) which is why I found it hard to believe that I finally had my BFP. I'm praying this is it for you.
